Garrison Brothers Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey

An outstanding, Wheated Bourbon Whiskey by Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hye, Texas crafted with a mash bill of 74% corn, 15% red winter wheat & 11% two row barley; aged for a minimum of 3 years in American white oak barrels before being bottled at 94 proof. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices; while a rich & creamy life adds notes of caramel apple, yellow pound cake, orange candy, verbena, fresh cut grass & honeysuckle; while a long & hot death adds notes of lemon gum drops, sugar cookies, oak, cinnamon, orange blossom honey, coconut, walnut, molasses & saddle leather. Something different but i like it. Can’t identify the flavors but theres a lingering sweetness

Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Lots of grass with some fruity sweetness underneath. Palate: Grass, clove and a little oak. Cinnamon arrives late to the party. Finish: Medium length with medium heat. Splash: No new flavors are revealed. Overall: 5.5/10 - The grassy note is strong throughout, and masks some of the classic bourbon notes. Garrison Brothers make some amazing whiskies, but this base offering just doesn’t quite hold up.

Extremely young tasting. Harsh oak.
