The color is a vibrant amber for a whiskey that doesn’t hesitate to leave a generous curtain of oils with every movement of the glass. The nose starts with charred oak, vanilla, creme brûlée and candied pecans. They nicely interact with each other while on subsequent nosing, floral rye and ripe fruit come out.
The palate the nuttiness carries over strongly as does a pleasant helping of oak. It is slightly oily but not chewy, as well as being very smooth on the palate overall. The creamy notes follow as does hints of salt and pepper.
The finish is slightly medicinal while being medium length with a lingering spiciness that sticks to the back of the mouth as the creamy notes fade.
