Glen Garioch 12 Year

Why stop halfway? Non-chill filtered but obviously colored, Glen Garioch 12 is giving mixed messages. A bit prickly at first, the nose interweaves apricots, banana and ripe mango with heather, ginger and a dusty cereal note. On the palate, red apples, tangerines and baking spices give way to grapes, black tea and salted caramel, and I could swear that there is a tiny hint of peat smoke in the back. Orange zest, honey and some vegetal notes characterize the earthy and cask-dominated finish. A decent core range release, the elevated ABV works in its favor. More caramel / toffee than the light honey of the entry one. Amber darker colour too. Sharp orange zesty still Almost slight raisin (or dried peach)

A bit strong in flavor, hit right off the bat with spice, then fruity, little smoke and tangy. After taste is more nutty with a little tang. Not bad over all but not something i would drink tobrelax with.

Nose: A robust mix of honey sweetness, spiced pear, and a hint of toasted oak. Palate: Rich and well-rounded with layers of ripe fruit, vanilla, and a subtle smokiness. Finish: Long and dry, with a satisfying warmth and lingering notes of spice and oak.
