Glen Moray Elgin Classic Port Cask Finish

N: bourbon, vanilla, some sweetness, plum M: vanilla, sweetness, slightly young (sharp)

A rather neutral dram all things considered. The port finish comes through nicely but at the expense of the spirit itself. There's not much else behind the port facade. A little sweetness like butterscotch with a hint of salt. Otherwise any other notes seem too faint for me to pick out. That being said the port aging gives a nice raisin/plum finish. It's not an amazing pour, but I don't think it's as lacking as some of the other reviews may suggest. I think it's a great choice for someone looking to explore some of the aspects of different finishing processes that can be done to enhance your spirits. I will have no qualms finishing my bottle ;)

Fruity and vanilla on the nose, fresh, fruity, especially red fruits on the palate, vanilla and a slight citrus note.

Don't expect a miracle from a no age statement Scotch. A little rosy in colour, smooth and syrupy start with a little fruit and maybe even grapey influence turns to a bit of a harsh finish. Not cheap but far from expensive. Yeah alright.

Overly sweet. Go for the Sherry cask instead
