Glenallachie Distillery Edition

Reviewed June 16, 2021The most notable thing about the nose is it’s absence. A slight mustiness. Reminds of some new make I tried once. A spiky and aggressive arrival that’s sweet and tastes like granulated sugar and little else. I’d be surprised if this whisky was any older then 3 years. Some vanilla and honey on the frighteningly brief finish. Dismal. I paid 30 pounds for this in a brief moment of confusion at the check-out in the local co-op. I’d feel short changed even if I had paid 15. Avoid. -

Reviewed March 3, 2020Ok i'm in the "right let's flush out the crap in my sample collection" mood tonight. Old Glenallachie..gives me more respect for what Billy Walker has done with his latest releases which I thought were either on just above average. This is below average so good to see he's making an improvement although he's still got a long road ahead and begs the question what did he see in this distillery? Plain sweet and inoffensive..no other taste descriptors.
