Glenfiddich 15 Year Solera Reserve

Tasty but the low abv makes this a Meh! whisky and should be illegal for Scotch. I say minimum abv = 86 This would be the perfect whisky to introduce Scotch to your wifee/girlfriend that has never had whiskey before!

Sharp nose and initial palate for 40 ABV. Apples, raspberries, honey, vanilla, orange peel on the nose. Sweet on the tip of the tongue, strong young bitter oak and spice overpowers most of the vanilla and honey. The fruitiness and citrus from the nose doesn't appear. Honey and slight smokiness lingers on the finish after a brief medicinal/metallic funk. Overall very young tasting for a 15 year old, it seems none of the old flavors get brought out of the barrels in the solera process. JW Green 15 is a better taste and value in my opinion.

Not overly smokey or heavy on peet. Has a nice complexity to it with a kick of pepper at the end. Was it worth 68 bucks...that is up to you.

A year later. This time over a cube of ice. Butterscotch tones are replaced by strong umami and anisette. Sherry finish is present and warming.
