Sweet malty notes on the nose. The body is light. It's quite fruity - but nothing strongly stands out - maybe there is a hint of apple or pear? I get a faint hint of tropical flavors, maybe the faintest hint of artificial banana? There is a bit of wood, but it's mellow. Mellow is the key to this whiskey- there's really a lot here, but it's all very subdued, maybe a little too subdued. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, but it's a bit too mild for my taste. There is something reminiscent of rubbing alcohol on the palate, but it's actually pleasant. Objectively it's better than The Original in so many ways... however The Original, while simpler, is much bolder, and I can drink 2-3 bottles of younger Glenmorangie, for the price of this bottle. I quite like The Original, it's one of my more affordable go to drinks.
Overall, this whiskey is a pleasant diversion, but at the price point, I think I'd rather drink something coastal, something much peatier, or two bottles of the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban.
