Goldschläger Schnapps Liqueur
This cinnamon-flavored liqueur (schnapps) was originally produced in Switzerland. However, after a brief production stint in Italy followed by a return to Switzerland, it is currently being manufactured in Montreal after Sazerac took over ownership in 2018.
Goldschläger is distinguished by a small amount of thin, edible gold flakes — its name means "gold beater" and refers to the gold-leaf makers who beat bars of soft gold into wafer thin sheets. The ABV varies from market to market, but is generally ~ 80-90 proof.
