Flavorful but harsh upfront on the tongue. After letting it breathe with some ice it got more mellow. Tasted against Elijah Craig and would pick that over the McKenna 10 year.
Definitely taste the vanilla and toffee. It’s good at first, a little sweet, then the 100 proof kicks in. Definitely get the menthol, but for me it was more like lysterine. Not my favorite neat. Added an ice cube and was much better. For me, could use some orange to help out. Would be better used in an old fashioned.
Beyond the typical bourbon flavors, which are in abundance here, there is a noticeable amount of citrus. Lots of spice on the back end as well.
A bit of water or ice opens this one up nicely.
It's a perfectly decent bourbon, but I don't see what all the hype is about.
