A category that has been growing in popularity over the last few years, Extra Añejo is the most heavily-matured style of tequila. Seeing at least 3 years in cask, most producers really seek to present their Extra Añejo offerings like a fine cognac both in terms of marketing and in many ways flavor profile. This product is aged for 3 years and 8 months. Limited production of 624 bottles, it should be noted that this comes in a handsome wooden box.
Tequila Extra AñejoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least 3 years in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, although ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Extra Añejo tequilas are also known as "ultra aged".
"Thick and viscous with a chocolaty nose accompanied by raisins, dried Açaí berries, Tootsie Rolls, dried figs, and a range of other fruits. It taste like dessert with those same flavors found on the nose along with apple pie dusted with vanilla and cinnamon. A very fruit-driven tequila with a slight grainy quality like a whisky, very chewy tactile texture."
