It smells super rich, sweet, and caramely with some orange notes. The palate is far less sweet but is still quite tasty with orange, wood, caramel bordering on cotton candy, and a bit of something medicinal. That nose sure is spectacular, so it is disappointing how the body is. There's a weird grape side flavor in here too that is interesting but probably not a great flavor for a staple. There is some spice but this is mostly sweet and fruity with some richness from the barrel. There isn't much in the way of smoke but there is some tartness and there definitely is mineral. Some of the fruits taste a bit more like blossoms. There's a bit of a cola flavor with a hint of corn syrup and chocolate. It's clearly a dessert drink even though it isn't as sweet as it initially seemed it would be. It's quite tasty and sippable and it has a fair amount of complexity and balance. That said, it isn't the first thing I would reach for due to its mildness and lack of complexity.
