Hernö Navy Strength Gin
Navy-Strength Gin
Hernö // Sweden
Hernö's Navy Strength Gin is made exactly as their standard-proof gin, but they only bring down the proof to 57% ABV, the proof the British Royal Navy deemed worthy to accept. This was tested by pouring it on their gunpowder, and if it lit, it was worthy. The water which they add to the gin comes from their own well to bring the gin down to desired proof.
This Swedish gin is made using 8 certified organic botanicals which, in addition to juniper berries, include meadowsweet, lingonberries, fresh-cut lemon peel, and vanilla. Note: This is not currently available in the U.S.

Tasting Notes
"The coriander shines a bit brighter at navy-strength proof and the juniper and black pepper are present and accounted for straight away. The berries are a little harder to suss out, but the vanilla seems to add a touch of sweetness to make a well-balanced gin. Cocktail suggestion? Try it in a Martinez. "
