I.W. Harper 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon
I.W. Harper // USA
I.W. Harper 12 Year Bourbon was distilled at the old Bernheim Distillery in the late 1970s or 1980s by Schenley. In 1987 United Distillers (now called Diageo) purchased Schenley and discontinued the I.W. Harper brand in the United States. They did, however, retain the brand for export purposes.
For over 30 years I.W. Harper was only produced for overseas markets. This particular expression was exported exclusively to Japan. Diageo has since reintroduced the brand to the United States, but the 12 year was not part of that reintroduction. It was bottled at 86 proof, or 43% ABV. .
