I.W. Harper Straight Bourbon

Sweet, easy sipper, no real jump out flavors aside from standard notes of vanilla and caramel on my taste

82% with a lil bite. Sweet caramel, buttery on the nose. I saw someone mention this is a good beginners bourbon. I'd agree, it has the slight sweetness and not too heavy oak.

The tour guide described this as a good beginner’s bourbon and I’d have to agree. Fairly sweet for a non-wheater, Harper brings notes of cherry, vanilla, and honey at a very approachable 81 proof.

Another fading memory at this point but a good time had with @ghill40509 on a weekday afternoon. What is unequivocal is that this is better than the overpriced 15 year version complete with fancy decanter. The profile is similar to that of JTS Brown bottled in bond - lots of dry oak, vanilla, cherries, allspice and maybe a hint of clove and tobacco. It's not a stand out but for the value it is another bottle to strongly consider and puts the 15 year to shame in terms of both flavor and VFM.
