Similar in flavor to tyrconnell 16 but that Irish dram is both better and easier to find in NJ. This lacks the viscosity of the Irish dram and also has less complex flavor. It also has an unpleasant long super spicy finish. Not bad but as long as tyrconnell 16 is out there no need to drink this. Madeira maturation imparts beautiful flavors though.
Honey yellow/orange in the glass. Nose: stone fruit pits, oak. Taste: Fruits, oak, nuts. Finish: Madeira, dark fruits.
I quite like this. Maybe not as good as the 12-year, but I'd happily have a bottle. If I had to pick, I'd probably still go with the 12, though.
