Reviewed February 2, 2021 (edited June 5, 2021)My bottle was bottled on 9 Nov 2020 and is 132.1 proof. Overall I would say it is great but nothing about it blows me away. I’m a full proof and a rye guy and I don’t get a ton of the rye flavor at all, I would guess the mashbill is closer to 51% rye and not a lot more but who knows. It sips very easy especially for the proof and I do get a very slight banana note that I only get with Jack Daniel’s. I did also get some cinnamon notes on the nose but I guess I just expected more rye. It does drink way lower than its proof for sure though! -

Reviewed January 14, 2021 (edited January 23, 2021)Barrel No. 20-06873, Warehouse 1-02, Bottled 11-04-20 65.5 % abv, 131 proof Open 3 weeks Nose - Dark chocolate covered bananas, toffee, maple syrup, cinnamon, rye bread, browned butter, light coffee grounds, medium ethanol. Palate - Chocolate cake, bread pudding with raisins drizzled with maple syrup, mint chocolate. Long finish with more rye spice than in the nose or palate. Dry oak, cocoa powder, orange peel, medium ethanol. I ventured into Virginia to seek this bottle out, and it was worth it. This is one of the best whiskeys I've had, and surpasses the amazing Jack Daniel's SiB BP I purchased last year. It has everything the regular barrel proof has, but slightly more spice and bread notes while the standard "bourbon" barrel proof is a sweet dessert bomb. It tastes much more like a high rye bourbon barrel proof than a rye whiskey, which probably has a lot to do with the charcoal filtering that is uncommon with rye whiskey. If you see this, buy it. I doubt it's easy to find now, but Jack Daniel's should make rye single barrel barrel proof a staple on the shelves right beside their standard barrel proof. It's that damn tasty.64.99 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed January 11, 2021 (edited January 26, 2021)This is the best of the best when it comes to rye whiskey. It has it all. High proof, good spice too it (way more than the barely legal ryes out there) and an almost toasted barrel finish quality to it that really brings out the sweeter notes. Incredible pour, buy on sight if you can find one.65.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed January 10, 2021 (edited January 15, 2021)Marvelous. Great nose and body to this, lots of sweet spearmint and chocolate, with just enough warming spice to balance things out. This is like if mint chip ice cream were a whiskey.72.0 USD per BottleAJ's Fine Foods
