This 2022 Special Release bottling from Jack Daniel's features an American single malt whiskey made from 100% malted barley, a first in the history of the brand. After distillation, the new make whiskey goes through the brand's charcoal mellowing process before entering new, charred American oak barrels for a minimum of 4 years. After this initial maturation process, the whiskey is then transferred into Spanish oloroso sherry casks from Antonio Paez Lobato Cooperage for 2+ years. It's bottled at cask proof, which for these bottles is between 106.

Tasting Notes

"Upon first nosing, the whiskey shows berries, caramel, and smoked vanilla. Moving on to the taste, you get a peppery bite and a chewy, oily taste profile and more of the flavors found on the nose. Despite the higher proof, it's not too hot/difficult to drink. But with added water, the whiskey shows a greater depth with more intense caramel and chocolate malt notes so adding at least a few drops of water is recommended. This is a limited edition release from Jack Daniel's, but we hope it's the first of many more American single malt whiskeys to come. "
