Tried this in a blind tasting, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was from Jack Daniels. I got lots of sweet toffee and vanilla on the front end and more of a smokey oak on the finish. There's no hiding the proof on this one, but it's a controlled burn that's certainly sippable neat. I didn't get that big laffy taffy note I pick up with the old number 7, but there is some banana there. I wouldn't necessarily say this is as good as Elijah Craig Barrel Proof or Stagg Jr, but it's a contender. The best thing about this barrel proof might be the fact you don't have to spend secondary money to get it.
