84... 84? I honestly do not understand how Distiller rates spirits. It's honestly mindbending. We have here a delicious, albeit unconventionally tasting, whiskey. Picture Jameson meets Guinness in a bar, hook up, and have a great tasting baby. THAT is what this is. AND it's a mere $40 CAD. Win-win.
I'm not sure what I anticipated, but it wasn't this. Very easy to drink and with barely a finish, I wondered if it had a taste at all. The fire has been removed, there's a slight smokiness at first, and it's very round and heavy. I love it when distilleries experiment with different barrels, but this fell a bit flat.
Adding to one of the easiest drinking whiskeys of all time they add some subtle nose and taste of earth tones which almost come off as a light bourbon without the heavy smoke. Very balanced and a worthwhile bottle on your shelf. I wouldn't replace my always at the ready bottle of original Jameson's with this but its a beautiful bottle to pull out when you want something different.
