I expected so much more out of this.
It’s kind of one dimensional. Higher proof makes it a bit more sturdy but that’s it. I don’t get any complexity or feel good vibes. It’s butterscotch corn and dry wood and a hint of French toast and then nothing. Kind of weirdly disappointing. I suppose it will have to be consumed via cocktails. That means I have to go buy bitters and stuff. At stores. I hate stores.
This has been the only Jim Beam labeled whiskey that I have been able to buy and enjoy multiple bottles of. Incredibly rich and flavorful, especially when compared to the White and Black labels, which I have found to be thin and harsh.
Nose: vanilla, peanuts and brown sugar.
Taste: sweet oak, vanilla, hint of nuttiness and a bit of mint.
Finish: nice mouth feel that gives off a light burn (allspice) that transitions to peanuts on the back end that linger for a bit.
