Kilchoman Machir Bay

A good Islay whisky - although I prefer the extra richness of the Sanaig expression - somewhat medium palate, not as peaty, and a little youthful.

Nose : Vanilla, smoke, salt, tropical Palate : Salt, smoke, barley, oranges, honey Finish : smoke, slight woody bitterness Overall not the best basic Islay available but it's enjoyable. I prefer Ardbeg 10 and Lagavulin 8 to this. Kilchoman Sanaig is better for a little more money.

Warming, peaty, nicely balanced and drinkable.

Not for the newbies... Got a dram in Athens and will get a bottle back in the States
