But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

"The rye comes through on the nose a bit strangely--it smells like pickles! Specifically the sweeter bread-and-butter variety, but that doesn't last long before dusty grains come through with rye bread and a touch of mint. The flavor is dry and fruity, giving way to a fun cream soda note. A healthy amount of pepper lingers to make sure your first sip wasn't your last."
