Kirkjuvagr Orkney Gin
Distilled Gin
Kirkjuvagr // Islands, Scotland
Distilled on Orkney, one of the Northernmost Scottish islands, Kirkjuvagr is made with locally-grown botanicals, including angelica, borage and ramanas Rose. The connection with Orkney comes from the name, which means 'Church Bay' in Old Norse.
The use of angelica was inspired by a story suggesting that Norsemen once brought the botanical to the islands. It can still be found growing there.

Tasting Notes
"Initially this gin is very shy and lacks a certain expressiveness. Then hints of angelica and almonds and cookie dough appear, along with just a whiff of spicy juniper and cinnamon. There's some orange peel on the palate, as well as coriander, making it a tad perfume-y. Overall it lacks a bit of balance."
