Kirkland Tequila Añejo

Neat. NOM 1173, Lot A-1 Nose is sweet with caramel, vanilla, and a touch of oak, carob, leather, and alcohol. Taste starts out true to nose. Oaky caramel vanilla, syrupy sweet, then a hit of spicy cinnamon and cocoa toward the end. Finishes with that cinnamon spice, tannins and saccharine sweetness. Overall it tastes good, but not a fine artisinal tequila. The agave is lacking. Feels additive heavy to me. It has its charm. Value is good. It compares to other anejos that cost more for smaller bottles.

I have had quite a few anejos over the years, this is very smooth with a great note of caramel.

I don’t drink a lot of tequila, but this tastes very good compared to what I’ve tried. I use this in margaritas and bloody Maria’s. It’s sweet and has a great agave flavor when I drink it neat. Even my girlfriend, who rarely drinks tequila, keeps a bottle at her home because she loves the flavor and offers it to her guests. Solid value for $20.

An amazing tequila for the price. Huge vanilla on the nose and the initial taste. Has an almost bourbon quality to it. Gives much more expensive tequilas a run for their money. I’m looking at you, Partida Elegante.
