Koskenkorva // Finland
Koskenkorva Vodka has been around since 1953, but has just (2017) launched in the US. It is a vodka made via continuous distillation from Finnish barley sourced within 120 miles from the distillery. Local spring water is used in its production. Named after the village where it is made.
Unflavored VodkaDistilled from any agricultural product, most commonly grains or potatoes. Typically distilled to 95% ABV. Water is added to bring the spirit down to as low as 37.5% ABV in the EU and 40% ABV in the US. It is usually filtered, often with charcoal, prior to bottling. It is almost always clear and unaged.
"Mild, sweet cereal grain greets you on the nose. The vodka feels soft in the mouth with a medium full body with and a touch of oil. The vodka is on the neutral and clean side of the spectrum with the gentle sweet barley continuing on the palate. One you could easily toss back as is."
