Lagavulin 8 Year

Very light in color and taste. Only the smallest hint of sweetness, with gentle peatiness on the tongue. Not very challenging, but nice and enjoyable after a long week.

My first surprise was the light color! Peaty on the nose right away the some hints of saltiness. Light on the palate with finish of light citrus. Added a few drops of water that lower the peaty finish.

This is an intense whisky, with all the lagavulin traits that we all know and love, but less subtle. A drop of water sets the aroma free and opens the door for smokiness and a bittersweet finish. Though a great whisky, still a tad shy of the classic 16 yo
