Barrell Dovetail (122.9 Proof)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 24, 2023Nose has rum and port. A bit hot on the tongue when tasting neat. Mellows with a cube of ice. Long caramel finish that lingers. Probably be better as a cocktail like Old Fashioned which will be next to try! -
First taste of this as part of World of Whisky Advent Calendar from last Christmas (yes I am slowly working my way through the 24 drams!)- had to look it up and surprised it is from South Africa. Lovely honey color. Definite sweet sherry on the nose. Spicy and sweet on first sip. Caramel plums hint of clove and a good toast. Opens up with a couple of drops of water. Long finish. Hope the distiller app group gets to try this dram!
