Laphroaig Lore

Tout d’abord, quelques étrangetés se pointent le bout du nez, avec une efface à crayon, du caoutchouc, un diachylon iodé, mais le tout n’est étrangement pas dérangeant. En bouche, la texture est tout de suite ronde et soyeuse (plus riche et sucrée que le Uigeadail, par exemple). Des saveurs de fleurs et d’orange se développent aussi, avec une deuxième moitié bien cendrée, une explosion de tourbe cendrée avec un splash de citron (quand même moins long que celui du Ardbeg 10 ans). Des fruits séchés prennent le dessus ensuite, complexes et fondus dans une longue finale confiturée maltée. Puis la tourbe reprend le dessus,m. Bref, immensément savoureux et complexe! Wow!

Sweet and briny smoke on the nose, very dense. Ashy campfire smoke up front on the taste, much like most Laphroaigs, it shifts midway to salty fruits, and lingers back and forth to sweet and smoke for a long and pleasant finish. The ashy smoke becomes more well rounded each time you return. I would happily enjoy this any time. I wish it was more available.

When I think of the perfect dram, Lore comes to mind. A less intense bottle compared to the QC or 10, Lore provides an excellent balance between rich floral tastes with the smoke/peat we go to Laphroaig for. I will always have a bottle of this on the shelf

Very smooth start with caramel and leather. Finishes with a nice warmth and after taste of cigars and malt. A very good drink

Nose: Sweet peat, saline, medicinal/TCP, nutty Palate: Dried fruit, dates, figs, cocoa, spices (cardamom, ginger, cloves). There’s the usual salt and peat hit and a woody sweetness. Finish: Medium long finish. More of the spice, medicinal, salt/saline, drying and hints of citrus on the aftertaste As per my previous tasting: “As is always the case with a Laphroaig, there is that typical TCP, medicinal taste up front, but this expression is richer than the typical 10y/o. The upfront taste is rich and spicy with a good hit of alcohol that quickly disperses into a sweet, dry and spicy finish”. A great NAS dram!
