Nose: rich, robust peat smoke, ocean spray/seaweed, a little bit of chocolate, ash. Creamy vanilla, hints of earthy dark sherry. Can see the roasted nut note here, very mildly. There is a dark fruitiness here. Caramel, Christmas baking spices.
Palate: full and very rich. Immediate classic Laphroaig peat. A bit of minerality. Theres a strong salted caramel and chocolate note that dances well with the organic green peat. Deep fruity fig and date notes. Wood. Cardamom and cinnamon. Transitions to finish with an oceanic salinity and oak warmth. I can see the chili note, but its very light in my estimation.
Finish: ashy, peaty, rich, spicy mexican hot chocolate/bitter cacao powder. Sweeter and darker than many other Laphroaigs. Lingering. Aromatic Cedarwood.
