Larga Vida XO Rum 2019 Edition is an elegant, 'sourced Dark Rum aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 15 to 24 years & later finished in Ex-Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Sherry casks. Flaviar handpicked & blended 10 tropical Rums from 10 Rum nations: Barbados, Dominican Republic, Guadalupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Jamaica, Mauritius, Panama, Trinidad & Colombia. It has an aromatic birth with notes of tropical fruits, nuts & spices; while a rich & complex life adds notes of dates, honeycomb, fried banana, vanilla, cinnamon, citrus, oak & nuts; that led to a long & balanced death with hints of molasses, smoke & Cognac. I love this. Bottom line. Fantastic. Initially, dark fruit (prune) that quickly opens into caramel, butterscotch, and chocolate caramel. Once I realized what this reminded me of, all I could taste was Rolo candy. Slightly viscous and thoroughly pleasant. Sweet but dry and complex. You can taste how many things are in this. Whether you like it or not, there's no question of quality here.
