Littlemill 25 Year (2015 Release)
Single Malt
Littlemill // Lowlands, Scotland
This new release from a defunct distillery was produced by mingling whisky from ten casks filled in 1989 and 1990. Originally, both American and European oak casks were used, then the final product was finished in Oloroso Sherry casks.
A Lowland malt distillery, Littlemill was founded in 1772 and closed permanently in 1994. 1,500 numbered bottles come with a 50 ml sample so hoarders can save their bottle and still taste the whisky.

Tasting Notes
"The Littlemills of old were often soft, simple and grassy, but this 25 year old shows the benefits of long years in good quality barrels. Fresh, crisp grains, orchard fruits, oak caramels, and surprisingly subtle barrels notes lead into pear, honeycomb and linseed oil on the nose. This initial oiliness is melted away on the palate by gorgeous hot peppermint notes, nutty barley, and a complex woodiness before a ginger-like burn turns vaguely and pleasingly bitter. Teasing hints of dark chocolate and hot peppers keep the longish finish interesting. Great whisky. "
