Lot No. 40 Cask Strength Third Edition
Lot No. 40 // Ontario, Canada
This Lot No. 40 Cask Strength Third Edition doesn't bear an age statement like the 2017 and 2018 releases. However, it still follows the tradition of being made with 100% rye grain and using new oak casks for its aging. 75% of the whisky is finished in new French oak barrels. Just 3,554 bottles were produced for Canada and the United States. This 2019 Lot No. 40 expression falls under the Corby Craft Rare Range.
CanadianDISTILLED IN CANADA AND AGED IN BARRELS FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS; OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) CANADIAN WHISKIES ARE BLENDS OF CORN, BARLEY, AND RYE WHISKIES WHICH WERE DISTILLED AND MATURED SEPARATELY. TRADITIONALLY, CANADIAN WHISKEY IS CALLED “RYE”, ALTHOUGH NO MINIMUM PERCENTAGE OF RYE-GRAIN WHISKY IS REQUIRED IN A BLEND.
Cask Typenew French oak & new oak
"Gone are the burly rye edges of the previous two cask strength expressions substituted for round tones, floral elegance and a lot more lumber. The rye spices are still there in full force, but they are polished. An exciting contrast develops on the palate between grassy rye, floral notes, vanilla, rye bread and bold oak to shape every sip. The rye spices step aside, allowing the heavy wood to do powerlifting. We’re talking entire oak trees put through a juicer — a fine addition to an essential series."
