Lunazul Primero Cristalino Tequila
Tequila Añejo
Lunazul Tequila // Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Lunazul Primero Cristalino is a 100% agave tequila produced at Tierra de Agaves Distillery. The agave, which has a pedigree dating back to 1758, is estate grown right outside of the town of Tequila in Jalisco. The agaves are harvested at seven to nine years and then cooked for a day before being shredded to extract the juices. After being fermented with a yeast unique to Lunazul, this tequila is double distilled in small batches then aged for 18 months in ex-bourbon, American white oak barrels.
It then goes through a filtration process eight times that removes the color making this an "añejo claro." Note: The brand updated its packaging in early 2024 with a name change from Primero to Primero Cristalino. (SRP $37.99).

Tasting Notes
"Lime zest and roasted agave lead on the nose and are followed by freshly mowed grass and dandelions. The palate has a somewhat thin and watery mouthfeel, while showcasing notes of burnt caramel, potpourri, oak, and lemon. The short finish has a bit of fire and bitterness to it, with rooibos tea and white pepper. "
