Maker's Mark Cask Strength

Slightly salty, smooth for a cask strength. Lots of back pallet activation

Batch 21-05 Nose: vanilla, molasses, peanut butter, cinnamon, maybe some clove?, Slight hint of dark ripe fruit Palate: oak up front, dominant vanilla bean, caramel, sweet cinnamon, ripe berries, freshly baked bread bread. Finish: more of maker's vanilla, brown sugar, baking spices, a lingering spicy oak, something fruity I can't quite make out. A sleeper bourbon for sure at this price, bold, complex, and available nearly everywhere it takes the classic makers mark wheated profile and adds a new depth of flavors and a chewy thick feel that is missing from the original. If you like to actually drink wheated bourbon and not just hunt overpriced and impossible to find btac this is a great buy.

Appearance: mahogany/burnt amber color Aroma: slight vanilla bean, quite a bit of burn on the nose. Splash of water brings out notes better. Caramel after water was added. Cherry notes as well. Oak forward, definitely a corn alcohol Palate: typical maker’s palate with slight more kick. With added water cuts down the heat, and oak really shines through. Very corn forward with that slight vanilla undertone. Finish: sweetness remained on lips afterward. Oak finish, not much of the vanilla or undertones remain other than oak. Typical maker’s product with more heat. Classic bourbon

Poured neat. Nose is dense with notes of honey ham, mesquite wood, vanilla cream and honey. Oily palate, carries over many of the sweet and woody flavors. Along with that come notes of red fruit, baking spices and black tea. Drinks a little hotter than the 110.3 proof listed on the label, but contributes well to the dense flavors of this whiskey.
