Maker's Mark Bourbon Cask Strength

Good but not exceptional, for sub $50 its hard to beat if you looking for a cask strength wheater. I think it works best as a food pairing, unlike other whiskeys that get drowned in competing flavors this has a very strong vanilla toffee note that breaks through whatever your eating. Not what im reaching for if i want a pour to enjoy by itself but if its my only option i don’t feel disappointed either. 7 year 5 month

Nose: Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Cake Batter, Cinnamon, and Vanilla. Also slight Spice, Cherry, and Musty Palate: Chocolate/Cherry Cake, Vanilla Icing, Caramel Squares, Baking Spices. Also slight Vanilla, Oak, and Toast Thoughts: This is my first ever bottle of Maker’s Mark Cask Strength. I got one of the new age-stated bottles, the 7 year 5 month. Once I drank it, I fell in love and immediately went out and both the other two, the 7 year 2 month and 7 year 7 month. This bottle is like a liquid dessert. It’s so rich and warming without being to high in viscocity. It has all the rich flavors I look for in a bourbon without being too proofy (even at Cask Strength). This is instantly one of my favorite bottles, and a must-have in my opinion. Go out and buy these because they are an absolute steal!

Review #304 Batch 25-02, aged 7 years 3 months Proof: 112.8 Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium-dark amber. Nose: Sweet, with dark fruit and vanilla notes. Palate: Baking spice, clove, more fruit. Finish: Long length with a good amount of heat. Splash: The fruity notes in the palate become more forward. Overall: 9/10 - This is the new age stated Maker's Cask Strength. Previous expressions in the Maker's Cask Strength series have alwayw scored pretty high with me and this is no exception. The length of the finish continues to impress me. At MSRP ($49.99) this is an easy call, and available everywhere.

It’s high-proof and spicy. The finish is decent.
