Maker's Mark Bourbon

Caramel and vanilla on the nose. Oak, vanilla, and a touch of spiciness on the palate. This is enjoyable, but Larceny Small Batch is my preferred wheater in this price range. To me, this is a much better bourbon when I drink it neat and without food. When drinking this with food, I often experience a searing burn down my throat. Also, there's something about the iconic shape of the bottle that does not work in my favor. I can never seem to pour this without several drops of bourbon escaping down the side of the bottle and moistening the label.

Nose: pretty mellow, sweet, with notes of atrawberry vanilla. Mostly get vanilla, coriander, some berries. It reminds me the most of strawberries or even strawberry shortcake. mouthfeel is slightly creamy but it leaves me desiring a little more out of it. A slight oak bitterness as well. Finish: fairly short with oak being the main thing i get out of it. Fairly standard, smooth and easy to drink with a lot of normal whiskey flavors. More mellow than other more standard bourbons but not necessarily a bad thing. Incredibly inoffensive, but i dont think I’d buy this expression from Maker’s again.
