Reviewed June 14, 2024 (edited June 15, 2024)The nose is distinct with a musky oak, ripe a fruit, vanilla, molasses and a touch of smoke. This is very distinct and unique, and if my suspicions are correct this is Corona Lisa's older sister. Sister Beryl to another wheated bourbon that was aged in ********* oak. Coupled with the fact that white corn specifically was used give this a very unique combination of grains and aging. This knows is absolutely to die for. The palate is rich, full and chewy. A gradual, but quick, wave of flavor Cascades through the mouth featuring The musky oak, a bit of peppery spice, with subtle vanilla and molasses rounding it out. The flavors are distinct and balanced, making this absolutely delectable. The balance of flavors is what makes this shine. Between the age and surprisingly low barrel proof, this has everything going for it. The intensity of the flavors is not overwhelming, it is exactly what you would hope for. Sometimes it can be hard to put a whiskey into words and this definitely falls into that category. The finish is medium long and chewy with a lingering spice and an overarching muskiness that can probably be attributed to the barrel. Flavors are easily coaxed out with a chew and each sip gets you looking forward to the next. This is special and incredible, and the perfect example of what bourbon can be.
