GrandTen Distilling // Massachusetts, USA
This rum is produced in Boston at the GrandTen Distilling which also produces gin, whiskey, and a variety of liqueurs. Their rum is made from blackstrap molasses and is distilled in copper pot stills. Wild New England yeast is used for the fermentation process. The rum is aged in charred, American oak for two years.
Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".
Cask Typecharred, American oak
"The aromas you get don't offer up much, but you'll find toasted sugar, under-ripe peach, and charred wood peeking its head in here. This char becomes more apparent on the finish. On the midpalate, the toasted sugar notes with that back note of the barrel provides a bitter and spicy finish. Not much going on here, and though the flavors don't taste bad, the rum doesn't leave you with much of a lasting impression."
