Rating: 15/23
This bottle has been open for a couple of months now and is nearing its bottom. So it's had a bunch of air.
N: Herbal, green apple, a little lemon, marshmallow (lightly toasted). A light layer of wood, with a little vanilla that blends into the marshmallow. Some ginger, with light traces of other spices (clove, cinnamon) perhaps.
P: Marshmallow (lightly toasted). Bright herbal flavor including lemon zest and a hint of green apple. An occasional hint of light brown sugar mixed in with somewhat tannic oak and vanilla. Too light: there is some alcohol coming through. There's some clear rye herbal flavor with The vanilla might be a tad too strong, combining with the alcohol to throw off the balance a little. The lightness also just makes this a bit too weak.
F: Vanilla, marshmallow, alcohol, anise, herbal rye, cinnamon, ginger, a hint of green apple.
- Conclusion -
This is pretty solid, but it's not super sippable. Even with the air bringing down the spice and meat, this still has a lot of alcohol. I was hoping it would go up to a 16, but it's at most a 15 and at worst a 14. I'm going with the 15 here. I think this is notably improved now. This maybe should have been a 14 last time.
