Mortlach 18 Year
Single Malt
Mortlach // Speyside, Scotland
Mortlach was established in Speyside 1823 by George Cowie and his son Dr. Alexander Cowie.
It was used primarily as a blending whisky, but recently Diageo has released different expressions as solo projects. It should be noted that the packaging for the 18 Year is quite schmancy, including a bottle with metal piping at its base, as well as an outer, plush-lined case that likely factors way into the price tag.

Tasting Notes
"The whisky smells and tastes much like an autumn grove fresh after a rain - wet pinecone, cedar and oak dominate the nose and palate. With a little water, it opens up to toffee, vanilla and almond and finishes quite round and smooth."
