Mortlach 25 Year
Single Malt
Mortlach // Speyside, Scotland
Mortlach was established in Speyside 1823 by George Cowie and his son Dr. Alexander Cowie.
It was used primarily as a blending whisky, but recently Diageo has released different expressions as solo projects. This expression is the only one of the new bunch aged exclusively in refill American oak casks with no sherry contact.

Tasting Notes
"Ewan Morgan of Diageo called this the "tagine of Scotch," owing the the array of spice flavors immediately present on the palate. The spices are a unique blend of both savory (corriander, cardamom, thyme and rosemary) to sweet (cinnamon, clove, allspice) and a final hit of black pepper. Vanilla comes in after, with marcona almond and a little bing cherry. Sweet tobacco rounds out the finish. Lots going on here."
