Mossburn Ben Nevis 2012 (Party Source)

This a Party Source pick I got on sale for $78 while visiting friends. These are very active Madeira casks. Tropical fruits are bight and pronounced. Ben Nevis is a beefy, heavy spirit though and stands up beautifully. Ben Nevis uses brewers yeast instead of distillers yeast and I've always gotten a very dark brown bread note that makes me think of malty beer. This Madeira cask injects yellow tropical fruit to make the whisky sing. They were offering tastings of this at the store. After I tasted it I bought two bottles. Lots of Ben Nevis gets shipped to Japan for blends so finding double digit aged independent bottles is a treat. If you're in the Cincinnati area I wholeheartedly recommend you pick this up.
