The grain alcohol is detectable immediately. Maybe the ratio of malt to grain has changed. The sherry cask isn't a bad touch, but I'm fighting the grain alcohol the whole time. There are much better blended malts out there and even some better blended scotch for the price that are better incorporated.59.99 USD per Bottle

Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Blended Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed December 30, 2023 (edited January 9, 2024)(2023 Version) Kept my expectations low because of Campbelltown hype and the low price. How good could it really be? I was so surprised how much I love this stuff. This is a great introduction to a region many have a hard time breaking into. This is a funky, malty pour that is a homerun for the price.40.0 EUR per Bottle -
I had this at a bar (old label) and enjoyed it so I bought a bottle (new label). I don't know if this was a bad batch but it tastes like lemon pledge out of an aerosol can. I added water...lemon pledge. I let it sit neat for 30 minutes then tried it again..even more concentrated lemon pledge. There must be serious batch variation. I regret buying this bottle.80.0 USD per Bottle

I've owned three of the taller style bottles and all of them were bourbon influenced. This is my first of the shorter style bottles and it is significantly different. This bottle has a richer, sherried influence. I've read about this shift and can confirm it. That said, I think it's great. This is a rich dram.

Green Spot Château Léoville Barton Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland

Nose - caramel apple, honey, pie crust, roasted malt Palate - caramel and honey come through. Pecan pie. Viscous mouthfeel. Finish - apple pie, brown sugar This is a pleasure to drink neat and my first Glengoyne. Classic highland profile shines through thanks to restraint with the sherry casks. I'm starting to understand what people are referring to when they say a single malt is old school. Drams like Glenfarclas, Glencadam and Ancnoc seem to use sherry casks as a compliment and not the main attraction. I would put this Glengoyne in that group.

Benromach Vintage 2012 Cask Strength Batch 01
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 21, 2022One of the best new whiskys I've tried this year. Dark fruits play with smoke in an old school belter. Drinks like a 92 proofer.
