Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum (Discontinued)

A great rum for mixing cocktails its right at the perfect price, not too cheap nor too expensive, and a great bourbon substitute. smells of charred oak and caramel. on its own it has an overwhelming spiciness and an oily mouthfeel, ethanol non-apparent to me otherthan the warm feeling afterwards. Personally I feel as though it shines in cocktails as you get the pros from it while the negatives get diluted out.

A surprisingly tasty rum at its price point, good for casual drinking with friends or for mixing. No nuance, and a lot of unsubtle alcohol-tinged sweetness, but I'd drink it again nevertheless.
