Inexpensive, and quite good. A pleasant surprise. Has all the classic DDL flavours, with considerably less sugar than other Demerara offerings. A great value for those who enjoy this vintage style of rum. 3.5 Stars.

Starts out with flavors of toasted coconut (lots of it!), orange zest, milk chocolate, suntan lotion, and a bit of spicy oak. Then the sweetness kicks in, obscuring any subtler nuances. Has an incredibly sweet, liqueur-like finish. Unfortunately, the 20+ grams of post-distillate sugar added to this product has dumbed down what might otherwise be a very nice rum. But it does come in a very fancy decanter, for those who enjoy that sort of thing.

If you enjoy actual rum, y'know, the kind that tastes like rum, avoid this synthetic chocolate tasting concoction. A hydrometer test revealed about 20g/litre of sugar, which handily explained the sickly sweet nose and flavour. By rights, it should be labelled a spiced rum.
