Handcrafted on the Nant estate in Tasmania, Nant uses traditional pot-distillation methods, Tasmanian barley and water from the surrounding lakes. Matured in a French oak port-wood cask, the maturation takes place in a convict sandstone building that has stood for over 180 years, an old age for Australian buildings. The Port Cask remains a part of the Nant’s Classic Collection Line which also include their Sherry Wood, Pinot Noir Cask, Port Wood, and Bourbon Wood.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.
"An immediate sense of sweet red fruits with berries following closely behind open up this whisky. A dusting of spice lies over the top, along icing sugar and rose petals. The palate is interesting, a blend of allspice, sultanas and flowers. It is almost musty towards the end, but with a strong fruit influence the entire way, mainly plums and sultanas. The finish is medium length with fruit-filled sweetness, warming butterscotch, and spices. "
