Okayama Japanese Single Malt Whisky

Reviewed July 21, 2024A rich, single malt Japanese whisky from the Miyashita Distillery, in the Okayama Prefecture in the south of Japan. Miyashita produced the whisky in celebration of their 100th anniversary (they have long produced sake, beer & shochu). It's made using barley from Japan & Germany, then aged in brandy barrels. It has an aromatic birth with notes of zesty fruits, a hint of tropical fruits, developing a fragrant spiciness of crushed pink peppercorn; while a floral life adds notes of coconut, sweet honey & pepper; that led to a long & spicy death with a touch of oak. October 2017 / August 2022
