Old Forester Rye

Outstanding rye.

One of the best ryes u can get for less than $25. Love my high end ryes like kentucky owl, michters toasted barrel rye, midwinter nights dram etc but this one hold its own neat, unique with higher barley content. Not to mention great as a mixer

As my rye legs get more miles on them, I seem to enjoy and appreciate the variation more and more. My dislikes remain but my likes have expanded. OF Rye is a great "barely-rye". 100 proof, available and priced like a daily drinker. This moves up to 3 stars...if not for my screw top bias, it would be 3.25...sry.

Nice sweet banana finish

First rye I’ve owned Nose: strong acetone right after the pour. After letting it rest for 5 minutes, I get brown sugar, light chocolate. Acetone smell is still there. Last note I get is a heavy bread (the rye). Taste: brown sugar, chocolate again (but darker than the nose), banana, spice (both from the proof and the rye). It’s a hot sip. It’s a longer finish than I was expecting at the price. The longer I let it sit with me the more the chocolate shines through.
