Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon 100 Proof

Cherry throughout on the nose and taste. Some teddy grams or honey. Vanilla. Medium pleasant finish and another good old forester single barrel

My bottle is a Master Distiller’s Select Nose: A deep banana cream pie jumps out of the glass and is followed by nilla wafer, caramel, chocolate covered marshmallows, and a hint of cherry and sweet cinnamon spice. Palate: The front of the palate is one in the same of the nose. I get unripe banana, shortbread cookie, vanilla crème, and browned butter. The sweetness is followed by a nice baking spice, a more pronounced cherry than found on the nose, and a very nice chocolate covered marshmallow/pretzel note that reminds me of modjeskas. It’s not thin but it’s not as viscous as I would hope for. Very deserty bourbon and I enjoy it very much. Finish: The finish is light, with not much oak presence and is just a soft fade of the flavors listed above. This is probably the biggest area that needs improvement for the whiskey. Final Rating: 8.6/10

Jeff's 300 Anniversary single bottle pick. This bottle tastes like straight whiskey to me. Not complex.

Jeff's Spirits 250th Anniversary Warehouse K, floor 8. Dark copper color with a faint hint of Amber. Small number of slow forming legs. Nose reveals that it's definitely an Old Forester product. Good rye presence with plenty of spice. Dark caramel, both ripe and tart fruits. A little hint of cardboard in there and a bit of a hit of ethanol. Some sweetness up front, but it wanders a bit and the sweetness doesn't linger long enough. A little butterscotch candy comes out. mouthfeel is a little bit thin, but there is a solid length finish that shows lots of wood. It comes up short in balance... All the flavors are there, but it's a little disjointed.

One of the best Bourbons I've ever had. It just has such a good mouth feel and flavour. It's rich and oily, well balanced. Maybe I got a great barrel, but I'll keep coming back.
