Tastes

I'm a little disappointed by this one. Single barrel, so every barrel is different. This one just has no body to it. It lacks flavour. It's not bad, but also not worth the price paid. Having had the Rebel 10 single barrel, this is disappointing.

Huge amounts of apricot, and very sweet, but not unpleasantly so. Drinkable at high proof, but it does better with a little water. Nice creamy finish.

The easy comparison here is to Evan Williams Single Barrel. Same flavours, but this is better. I'd also compare this to Blantons, and in my opinion, this is the better choice. Definitely a strong alcohol on the nose, but subtle nut, mint and orange. A little oily which creates a nice mouth feel. It has a spice to it that suggests high Rye content. Very nice balance with very traditional Bourbon flavour, but just a nice orange finish.

Pretty good sipper. I don't think I've ever used "tart" before to describe a whiskey.

Really liked the nose, but it didn't quite follow through on the pallette. Definitely Bourbon notes coming through, but ultimately a bit too sharp.

Nice. Generally a good Bourbon with no surprises. Not sure if it's worth the price, but no regrets.

It's a really good Rye, but it's way too expensive. Vanilla, quite sweet and a little bit floral. Finishes with a nice spice, but not too hot.

First time trying any Dickel. I'm very impressed. Really good mouth feel! Just a great level of oiliness to create a pleasant viscosity. Lots of brown sugar and caramel with a hint of vanilla. Finishes with a nice Rye spice.

I really like this. Comes off as almost a port. Definitely a good finish.

Really pleased with this. I wish it was a little more full and oily, but overall the flavour is excellent.
